The Rules of the Immortals
"Tradition, it's all we have."
These are the rules that the immortals follow. The ones that are bound by honor have no problem in the following of the sacred rules. There are some, though, who occasionally break the rules. Though we do not know the consequences of these actions, it is expected that breaking the rules would cause a great disturbance in the Game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Activation: One can only become an immortal by suffering a violent death. Though this is a terrible thing to imagine, it is a sad fact. If a pre-immortal eventually dies of old age, without being made an immortal, they will die, and never realize that they were immortal. Once an immortal dies, that is the age that they remain for the rest of their life.
2. Combat: Inexperience kills, find a mentor. One on One combat only! Tag teaming is against this rule. Battling one immortal with a group, is also against the rules. An immortal must not kill another immortal, if both parties do not agree to the challenge.
3. Weaponry: Traditionally, the only thing used in combat are swords. This is considered an honorable weapon among the immortals. There are exceptions though, if an immortal feels that he or she is incapeable of using such a weapon, they can resort to something easier for them to handle. NO GUNS!!
4. Interference: Once the battle has begun, no one is allowed to interfere.
5. The Goal: There can be only one. A majority of immortals fight for the Prize, an unknown gift given to the last remaining immortal. The thought of being the last one, and not receiving the Prize, because of their distruction of the rules, keeps most immortals in line, and makes them uphold these rules.
6. Endgame: Once you loose your head, it's over. This is the only way to kill an immortal. All other ways, are the equivilant to a mortal being comatose or knocked unconscious. There can be only one. Immortals fight unitl only one remains. This may or may not happen during a mentor/student trainning battle.
7. Limitations: Never fight on Holy Ground. Though it has been proven that if an immortal is to fight on Holy
Ground, nothing will happen.......immediatly. There is no indication that this immortal will not pay dearly later on in their life or in the Game.
8. Confidentiality: Never let mortals know your secret. Certain immortals do settle down to lead "normal lives"
with a mortal, but there are the mortals in the world that cannot be trusted. Aside from the watchers, that
already know about the immortals, most of the mortal world is seen as a threat to the immortal race.
