OPEN SEASON (completed)

The part of Duncan MacLeod is temporarily being understudied by Candy.

***Somewhere in the mountains between Seattle and Seacouver.***

Duncan looks out the passenger window and frowns.

[Duncan] Are you sure you know where you're going?

Duncan asks looking at Methos dubiously.

[Methos] Of course, been around the world for centuries? Do you think I would get lost?

Duncan quirks an eyebrow.

Methos smiles as he turns his Land Rover to a narrow dust track.

[Duncan] Where's that map?

Duncan asks rummaging through the chaotic mess in Methos glove box.

[Methos] There's nothing to worry about I'm used to wander around. We don't need it.

Methos shrugs as he keeps going.

Duncan looks out the window and up at the sky trying to get a sense of the direction they are going from the position of the sun.

[Duncan] Who told you about this so called short cut?

Duncan asks when he realizes they are heading west when they need to be going south.

[Methos] A pretty geologist I've met at the auction, while you were busy with antiques?

Methos smiles still looking ahead.

[Duncan] A pretty.....

Duncan rolls his eyes and groans.

[Duncan] I should have known.

Duncan rubs his hand over his face.

[Duncan] I don't see why we just couldn't take the interstate back.

Duncan grumbles and slumps down in the seat.

[Methos] What's wrong with that? She was nice enough to give me her telephone number, I might ask her out.

Methos smiles smugly.

[Duncan] Wonderful. That makes it all right.

Duncan says sarcastically.

[Duncan] So what did you find out about those books?

Duncan asks changing the subject.

[Methos] None of them was any of my journals. I've had all this trouble for nothing.

Methos sighs as he keeps driving.

[Duncan] Well don't feel alone. The item I was going to bid on was removed from the auction for some reason.

Duncan says as he lays his head back on the head rest.

[Duncan] So much for that commission.

[Methos] Oh, that's too bad. You should have gone to bar with me then. The geologist had a friend.

Methos smiles amused.

Duncan rolls his eyes again.

[Duncan] I'm sure she did.

Duncan closes his eyes and tries to relax.

[Duncan] She would have been disappointed because I'm not the least bit interested right now.

Duncan says without opening his eyes. There's a bit of a smirk on his face.

[Methos] What? The great Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod is not interested in women anymore? I'm shocked.

Methos shakes his head smiling.

[Duncan] I didn't say that.

Duncan says, his smirk growing.

[Methos] Well it sounded like that. And you don't have to worry about, she was pretty.

Methos chuckles.

Duncan opens his eyes and picks up the water bottle sitting in the drink holder in the center console and takes a drink.

[Duncan] Are you sure you know where you're going?

Duncan asks looking around and seeing nothing but wilderness.

[Methos] Of course I know.

Methos says offended.

[Methos] I'm like pigeons, never get lost.

[Duncan] That's not what I hear.

Duncan says under his breath and shakes his head. He pulls his pocket watch out and takes a look at the time.

[Methos] Oh really? And who was so kind to give you that information?

Methos frowns thinking, he had no idea who might have been.

[Duncan] The last person you got lost with.

Duncan says with a chuckle as he remembers a story Joe had told him about one of Joe and Methos' road trips.

[Methos] I never get lost!

Methos says a little irritated.

[Duncan] Or run out of gas.

Duncan says teasingly.

[Methos] Ok, I ran out of gas but I didn't get lost. So it was Joe huh? It was his fault anyway.

Methos shrugs smiling.

[Duncan] Oh. Of course. It would never be yours.

Duncan says sarcastically and smirks.

[Methos] Of course not, I know what I'm doing.

[Duncan] Yeah. So you keep saying.

Duncan says doubtfully.

[Methos] So why do you keep doubting it? We'll be perfectly safe.

Methos frowns side glancing at MacLeod.

[Duncan] Safe I'm not worried about. Lost....well that's another story.

Duncan says as he looks around at the never ending wilderness surrounding them.

[Duncan] I did have plans for tonight and would like to get back in time to enjoy them.

Duncan takes another drink of his water and replaces the bottle in the drink holder.

[Methos] Don't know why you're in such a hurry, it can't be a date if you say you're not interested in women.

Methos smiling smugly.

[Duncan] I did NOT say I wasn't interested in women.

Duncan groans.

[Duncan] You know what your problem is?

Duncan asks sitting up and turning to look at Methos.

[Methos] Yes, you did.

Methos says ignoring his question.

[Duncan] Your problem is you don't listen.

Duncan grumbles.

[Duncan] Because I most certainly did not say anything of the sort. I just said I wasn't interested in meeting anyone right now.

Duncan says shaking his head. Suddenly the SUV runs over something in the road with a jolt that makes him reach out and put his hand on the dashboard to brace himself.

[Methos] That's about the same, isn't it?

Methos smirks amused.

[Duncan] What the hell did you run over?

Duncan says looking back out the rear window. Just then a loud bang rings through the SUV and then a loud hiss.

[Duncan] No. You can't be serious.

Duncan says turning back around and looking at Methos.

Methos sighs as he hears the noise.

[Methos] Damn, and now we have a flat tire.

Duncan unhooks his seat belt, preparing to get out when Methos stops the car.

[Duncan] Really? Ya think?

Duncan says sarcastically.

Methos slows down and parks his SUV at a side of the dirt track.

[Methos] Well, if you were looking around instead of sleeping maybe you could have warned me about it.

Methos grumbles preparing to exit his car.

Duncan opens the door and gets out. He walks around and looks at the definitely flattened tire.

[Duncan] Perfect.

Duncan grumbles. He walks to the back of the car and opens the tail gate and access panel to the spare tire and jack.

[Methos] Since this was your fault you're changing it.

Methos says looking down at the flat tire.

[Duncan] My fault! How the hell do you figure that?

Duncan calls out from the rear of the SUV.  He takes out the jack and steps to the side of the car and tosses it to Methos.

[Duncan] Here. Make yourself useful.

[Methos] Yeah, why do you think rally pilots have a co-pilot? To sleep while they drive?

[Duncan] You wouldn't have needed a....

Duncan makes quotation marks in the air.

[Duncan] ....co-pilot if you had just taken the Interstate back like normal people.

[Methos] And why would I do that? This way is faster or was until we had a flat.

Methos frowns at MacLeod.

Duncan loosens the butterfly nut that secures the spare tire in its compartment. Then he lifts it out and drops it to the ground. Instead of bouncing the tire simply leans against the rear bumper of the SUV.

[Duncan] Oh....this is just perfect.

Duncan groans as he looks down at the obviously flat spare tire.

[Duncan] You can forget jacking up the car.

Duncan says looking around the corner of the car.

[Methos] Now what? Why do you have to complain all the time?

Methos sighs shaking his head.

[Duncan] When was the last time you checked the condition of your spare tire?

Duncan asks in a emotionless voice.

[Methos] Don't know, I'm sure it's there.

Methos shrugs.

[Duncan] Oh. It's here alright.

[Methos] So what's the problem?

Methos asks coming around to the back door.

Duncan steps back and gestures toward the flat spare leaning against the bumper.

[Methos] Oh, damn. I forgot to get another spare tire. Now I remember I had to use it.

Methos sighs.

[Methos] Well, I can't think of everything!

Duncan takes his cell phone out of his pocket and flips it open. He walks around in a circle trying to get a signal. When he doesn't he flips the phone closed and shoves it back in his pocket.

[Duncan] Perfect. No cell service up here.

Duncan says and looks up at the sky which is starting to darken as the sun begins to set.

[Duncan] Any suggestions Einstein?

Duncan asks sarcastically.

[Methos] Hey. look on the bright side, it's not raining.

Methos smiles.

[Methos] Hmmm we walk?

Duncan walks back to the passenger door and opens it. He rummages through Methos' glove box and finds the map. Taking it out he opens it and spreads it across the hood of the SUV. He studies it for a few minutes.

[Duncan] According to this....if we are where I think we are....the nearest town is 30 miles that way.

Duncan says pointing in the direction the map shows the town to be.

[Methos] So it will take us a while to get there. So what?

Methos shrugs unconcerned.

Duncan sighs and folds the map up. He puts it back in the glove box and reaches in the back seat to retrieve his coat and sword then closes the passenger door.

[Duncan] So much for my plans.

Duncan grumbles and walks to the back of the SUV to start putting things back in the back.

[Methos] There's always tomorrow.

Methos smiles as he locks the Land Rover and begins to walk.

Duncan slips his coat on, sheaths his sword in the lining and follows Methos down the road.

OPEN SEASON Part 2
« Reply #1 on: September 30, 2011, 08:51:42 am »

CAUTION! The following transcript contains strong adult language.

The part of Duncan MacLeod is temporarily being understudied by Candy.

[Eli] Open me a beer.

Eli orders Frank as he steers the old beat up truck around the winding curves of the mountain road that goes from town to their cabin.

Frank gets a bottle of beer out of the ice chest that is sitting between them and opens it. He hands it to Eli.

Eli takes the bottle and chugs down half of its contents.

[Frank] So....Eli? Just what are we going to do with Glenda Sue?

Frank asks as he opens another beer for himself.

Eli shrugs.

[Eli] I haven't decided yet.

[Frank] Do we really have to kill her? I mean....couldn't we just keep her from leaving? I was really starting to like her. She was the best piece of ass I've had in a long time. I hate to give that up.

Eli glances over at Frank and shakes his head.

[Eli] She's just a female, kid. And females are all alike. You can get a better piece of ass from a goat and not have to deal with all of the bull **** you do with a female.

Frank sighs.

[Frank] Yeah....so you keep saying. But we don't have a goat, Eli.

Frank grumbles and drinks most of his beer.

[Eli] You got a lot to learn, kid.

Eli scowls.

[Frank] I'm not a kid, Eli. Quit calling me that.

Frank pouts.

[Eli] You're right. I shouldn't call you that. I've known kids that are smarter than you.

[Frank] **** you, Eli.

Frank says more to himself than to his older companion. He is really getting tired of Eli treating him like some sort of retard. One of his most enjoyable fantasies is to make Eli his prey...hunt him down and pay him back for all the times he has been mean to him.

Duncan opens his bottle of water and takes a drink. The sun is getting lower on the horizon and he knows it will be dark soon.

[Eli] It'd be the best **** you ever had, kid.

Eli says with a smirk and empties his beer. He tosses the empty bottle out of the window and watches it shatter on the pavement in the side mirror.

Duncan looks ahead of them and squints to see through the early stages of dusk.

[Duncan] Hey.....I think I see a paved road up ahead. Pavement means civilization.

Duncan announces. To himself he mumbles, "eventually."

[Methos] Well, you should know you're the one who studied the map.

Methos shrugs and keeps walking.

[Duncan] Next time we go anywhere together I'll drive.

[Methos] Count me out, I'm not going anywhere else with you. Damn, I should know better.

Duncan says as he pulls his cell phone out of his pocket and checks to see if he has a signal. Finding that he doesn't he mumbles a few choice words and stuffs it back in his pocket.

Methos grumbles.

[Duncan] Hey.....you asked me on this little journey. You could have come alone. Then you'd be walking down this lonely road all by yourself.

Duncan reminds Methos as he shoves his hands in his pockets and picks up the pace a bit.

[Duncan] And I would be home getting ready to sink my teeth into a tender, juicy steak.

Duncan adds and to himself, thinks, "across from a beautiful lady."

[Methos] No, I'd be home right now. You attract trouble like a dog attracts fleas.

[Duncan] Yeah. Blame it all on me. Or the trees....or the bear that is probably following us waiting for the right time to make us his dinner. But never accept any blame yourself Ever.

Duncan grumbles.

[Duncan] Sometimes I really find it hard to believe you're 5000 years old. You'd think someone that old would act more mature.

[Methos] I should have moved to... China, when you came back to town.

[Eli] Give me another beer.

Methos grumbles again.

Eli orders Frank as he swerves to miss a raccoon crossing the road.

Frank opens another bottle of beer and hands it to Eli.

[Frank] So how long are we going to keep the girl around?

Frank asks hoping he'll have time for at least one more roll in the hay with her.

[Eli] When I decide....I'll send you a memo. Oh....wait....you can't read. I'll have to draw you a picture.

Eli snarls and guzzles down half of his beer.

[Frank] I can too read. Probably better'n you.

Frank says and pouts.

[Duncan] If you hate me that much...why did you ask me along?

Duncan asks as he continues to trudge ahead.

[Methos] Who said anything about hate? It's just not wise to stay too long around you, that's all.

Methos shrugs smiling.

[Duncan] Yeah? Since when?

Duncan shoots a glaring glance at Methos.

[Methos] Since when? How about since the first time we've met?

Methos looks around.

[Methos] Actually I'm surprised there's not a wacko with a sword following us now.

Duncan shakes his head and decides that further conversation on this subject would be a exercise in futility.

Eli empties his beer and tosses the bottle out the window again.

Duncan finally sees that he had been right as they come to a paved road. He stops and looks in both directions then looks down at the asphalt.

[Duncan] Looks like it is pretty well traveled. Hopefully it will lead to a phone.

Duncan starts walking in the direction the map showed a small town should be.

[Methos] Yeah, and hopefully a bar, I'd kill for a beer right now.

Methos sighs following MacLeod.

Eli switches on the truck's head lights as the sky begins to darken.

Duncan hears the sound of a noisy engine in the distance behind them. He turns and looks in that direction just as heads lights come around a curve.

Eli rounds a curve and he catches a glimpse of two figures off in the distance.

[Eli] Hey.....I think we have a couple of pigeons up ahead.

Methos turns as he hears the noise, it sounds like an old truck.

Frank perks up.

Duncan sticks out his thumb.

[Frank] I don't see their car.

Frank says assuming they have had car trouble some where along the road.

[Eli] Well....they didn't get beamed down from outer space.

Eli says sarcastically.

[Eli] Get the darts ready.

Frank pulls a hunting pack out from behind the seat and opens it. He retrieves two small darts....the kind used in tranquilizer guns.

Eli slows the truck as they get closer to the two men that are now hitch hiking.

Frank quickly surveys the area to make sure there were only the two men. Eli hated surprises and usually took it out on him when they happened.

[Duncan] They're slowing down. I think we have a ride.

Duncan announces.

Eli pulls as close to the shoulder as he can and brings the truck to a stop.

Frank slips the two darts into his vest pocket and opens the door. He gets out and walks toward the two men.

Eli gets out and steps up next to Frank and walks with him. When they get close enough he smiles a friendly smile and looks around.

[Eli] Car trouble, gentlemen?

Eli asks still grinning.

Methos looks from one of the strangers to the other, he wasn't sure they weren't getting into more trouble.

[Frank] I don't see your car? Where did you break down at?

Duncan points in the direction they had come.

[Methos] Oh, down there.

Methos makes sure he points the wrong way, he wasn't liking this at all.

[Duncan] Down a dirt road about a mile back that way.

Duncan answers.

[Duncan] According to our map there's a town in this direction.

Duncan says pointing in the direction they are headed.

[Eli] There is. It's about 15...20 miles down the road.

Eli says, nodding.

Methos sighs MacLeod had to tell them everything apparently he wasn't suspecting a thing.

[Frank] It's not much of a town. They don't have a garage. There's one gas pump but it is owned by the hardware store.

[Eli] We're heading that way if you boys would like a ride?

Eli says invitingly.

[Frank] We even have a couple of beers if you're thirsty

Frank adds.

Eli extends his hand in greeting.

[Eli] Name's Eli Deak and this is my nephew, Frank Pearl.

Eli says introducing himself.

Duncan takes the man's hand and shakes it.

Methos looks at them slightly suspicious as he nods.

[Methos] Adam Pierson.

[Duncan] Duncan MacLeod.

Duncan says and lets go of Eli's hand.

Frank extends his hand.

Duncan takes Frank's hand and shakes it a couple of times.

[Duncan] I know that I would sure appreciate a ride.

Duncan says smiling at the older man.

[Eli] Hope you don't mind sitting in the back.

Eli says as he turns and starts walking back to his truck.

[Eli] We don't have one of those fancy trucks with the back seats.

Frank looks around.

[Frank] You guys have any gear you need thrown in the back with you?

Duncan shakes his head as he starts to follow Eli.

[Duncan] Nope. Just us. And the back is fine.

Duncan says glad he doesn't have to walk 20 miles. He's in shape but not that much.

Methos hesitates a moment, then seeing no other way, sighs and follows MacLeod.

Eli opens the tail gate of the bed of his truck and moves a few things around so there is room for the two men to sit.

[Eli] I take it you boys aren't from around these parts.

Eli says with friendly observance.

[Duncan] No. We're not. Until you two came along I was beginning to think no one was from around here.

Duncan says as he climbs into the bed of the truck. Straightening his coat under him he slides toward the cab and props his back up against it.

Methos almost rolls his eyes, yeah like they looked from around here.

[Frank] There aren't many of us.

Methos climbs into the truck and tries to sit against the side of the truck, he wasn't going to turn his back on these guys, they looked weird.

Frank says with a laugh.

Eli closes the tail gate and heads around to the drivers door.

[Eli] If it gets chilly....you can use that canvas tarp over there.

Eli says pointing to the tarp in question.

Frank goes around to the passenger door and gets into the cab. He takes two bottles of beer out of the ice chest and thrusts them through the non-existent rear window.

[Frank] Here....if you're thirsty.

Duncan takes one of the bottles and smiles politely at Frank.

[Duncan] Thanks.

Duncan says simply. He opens the bottle and takes a good swig.

Methos grabs the other beer from MacLeod's hand and opens it to drink.

[Methos] Thanks.

Duncan leans back and stretches his legs out in front of him. He looks up at the now purple sky and watches as it darkens.

Eli gets in and starts the truck. Without a glance in Frank's direction he puts the truck in gear and it lumbers down the road toward town.

Methos drinks half the bottle and then tries to stretch his legs.

Frank opens a beer for Eli and hands it to him. Then he lays his elbow on the window sill of the passenger door and sits back looking like he's ready to enjoy the ride.

[Frank] You know....I still say that Sam shorted us on those roof shingles we ordered. I am positive I told him we needed 10 cases.

Frank says to Eli. He has to raise his voice a little so Eli will hear him over the non-existent muffler of the truck.

Eli nods and takes a gulp of his beer.

[Eli] We'll just have to make do with what we got and hope the weather stays good until we can get the rest.

Eli says and casually glances in the rear view mirror. Seeing where their two hitchhikers are sitting he frowns a little.

[Duncan] If this town doesn't even have a garage....they may not have tires either. I hope you're a member of the automobile club.

Duncan says to Methos partially teasing.

[Methos] No, but I bet you are.

Methos smiles back.

Frank sees the frown on Eli's face and glances back behind him. He sees what has caused the frown on Eli's face and shifts his weight uncomfortably.

[Duncan] Which would help if we were driving MY car. But we're in yours....remember? My membership doesn't cover someone else's vehicle.

Duncan says in answer to Methos' comment.

[Methos] Then you can pay for a tow.

Eli thinks for a few seconds then his frown fades. He suddenly jerks the steering wheel causing the truck to lurch to the right and he lays on the horn.

Methos shrugs before he takes a sip.

[Eli] God dam squirrels. I swear they have suicidal wishes.

Eli yells angrily as he works to stabilize the truck again.

Duncan is thrown sideways against the engine that is under a tarp in the center of the bed of the truck.

[Duncan] Ow!

Duncan exclaims and looks around to see what was going on.

Frank is nearly thrown out of his seat. He manages to brace himself with his hand on the dashboard and he looks at Eli. When he hears Eli's complaint he looks at the road for the squirrel.

Methos falls forward and drops the beer bottle as he tries to grab something.

[Methos] Damn.

[Eli] Sorry about that.

Eli calls out over his shoulder.

[Eli] Damn squirrels think they own the roads up here.

Eli says with a chuckle.

[Frank] You told me they did.

Frank chimes in. At first when he didn't see the squirrel in question he had been a bit confused but he finally figures everything out.

[Eli] That's right, nephew. Always remember....it's do as I say...not as I do.

Eli reaches over and playfully slugs Frank in the shoulder.

Methos tries to sit back up and grabs the beer bottle to see if there's any beer left.

Duncan proceeds to brush off the drops of his own beer where they have beaded up on his coat. He repositions himself...now a little more toward the center of the truck bed....and he leans his back against the back of the cab.

Eli keeps an inconspicuous eye on the rear view mirror.

Frank proceeds to pick up some of the things that got thrown off the dashboard to the floor during their evasive maneuver.

[Methos] Oh damn.

Methos sighs unhappily realizing his bottle is empty now.  He throws away the bottle and tries to sit up and get closer to MacLeod.

[Methos] Move aside will you? I want to grab that window, I don't want to be shaken all over again.

Methos tries to stay on his side and not to turn his back on those guys.  He ends up sitting towards the corner behind the driver's seat while his hand grabs the window firmly.

Eli drives straight and at a medium speed for several minutes then suddenly jerks the steering wheel again and runs onto the shoulder of the road, over a large broken tree limb that is lying halfway on the road and halfway on the shoulder.  The swerving causes the truck to lurch hard to the right and when it runs over the limb the bed bounces hard and high enough to cause the tarpped engine to come off the floor a couple of inches.

[Eli] Did you see the size of that pole cat?

Eli asks Frank.

[Eli] It was big as McPherson's rot.

Eli exclaims.

[Frank] Definitely don't want to hit one of those.

Frank says.

[Frank] Take a month to get the smell out.

Duncan is once again thrown to the side and he falls hard against Methos. When the truck bounces over the log he is tossed back against the back of the cab and the front section of the tarpped engine. A sharp pain jolts through his body as the back of his shoulder is pierced by a protruding, sharp engine part.

[Duncan] Ow!

Duncan grimaces and grabs his left shoulder with his right hand. He lowers his hand and looks at it and sees that there is blood on it.

[Duncan] Damn!

Duncan exclaims quietly.

[Eli] A month if you're lucky.

Eli says and finally manages to straighten out the truck. He inconspicuously glances in the rear view mirror.

Methos went flying as the truck bounced, and falls against MacLeod, and then crashes back against the truck.

[Methos] Ow. Damn, just where did these guys get a driver's license? By mail?

Frank turns his head and calls out the window, "everyone alright back there?" Then he sees the blood on the one man's hand. He scoots closer to the window and pokes his head partway out.

[Frank] Hey, dude....you OK?

Frank asks looking at Duncan with concern.

[Frank] Man....that's bleeding pretty bad. That must be a really deep cut.

Frank says seeing the amount of blood seeping through the fabric of MacLeod's coat.

[Methos] Let me take care of it, I used to be a doctor.

Methos quickly gets closer to MacLeod, the last thing they need was for them to see him heal.

[Eli] What?

Eli says with surprise and concern.

[Eli] Someone hurt?

[Methos] No, I think it's just a scratch.

[Frank] Yeah. The engine cut him deep on the back of his shoulder, Uncle Eli.

Methos quickly tries to cover the wound.

[Eli] There's a first aid kit under your seat, Frank. Get it out. There should be bandages in it.

Eli instructs.

[Methos] Are you alright?

Frank does as instructed and hands the first aid kit through the back window to the guy who said he was a doctor.

Methos whispers to MacLeod while they guys are distracted.

[Duncan] Other than having an intimate encounter with a tractor engine....yeah. I'll live.

Duncan answers Methos in a quiet voice only for his ears.

Methos takes the first aid kit and starts treating the wound, the sooner they would get it bandaged the better.

[Methos] I know you will.

Frank watches the activity in the back of the truck intently. When the doctor guy moves closer to the injured guy it brings him closer to the back of the cab. He inconspicuously reaches into his vest pocket and removes the two darts he had put there earlier. He places one in each hand so that the tops stick up between his index and middle fingers and the tip is facing out of the hand. He slowly moves closer to the back of the cab and up onto his knees on the bench seat.  He moves with a surprising quickness and reaches his arms through the back window and then his head and shoulders up to his chest. He quickly presses the palm of one hand to the back of the doctor guy's neck and the palm of his other hand to the back of the injured guys neck...embedding the tips into each man.

Methos smiles still working on his wound.

Duncan straightens up in surprise as he feels the sharp tip of the dart enter the back of his neck. He starts to turn toward his attacker when he is overcome by a wave of heavy warmth and suddenly he is unable to move anything from the neck down. He tries to speak but his vocal cords don't want  to work and he realizes that he is completely paralyzed from the neck down. All he is able to do is move his eyes. He looks over at Methos.

Methos had just finished bandaging the wound when he feels a sting, he looks back surprised but realizes he's already too late as he starts to get dizzy.  He realizes he's unable to move and as he looks back at MacLeod, he realizes the same happened to him. He just stares at him not sure what they could do now.

Stay tuned for the next gripping episode

WARNING!! The following transcript contains adult language and violence.

The part of Duncan MacLeod is temporarily being understudied by Candy.

***A few hours later***

Duncan , at some point, fell asleep...whether from the effects of the drug or out of exhaustion from trying to fight the effects of the drug. Now he wakes up and as soon as his mind clears and he remembers what has happened he tries to move. He finds that he can turn his head and he opens his eyes and looks around at his surroundings. The first thing he notices is that he and Methos are not alone.....that there is a naked girl also chained up with them.   He tries to move his limbs and discovers that his wrists are chained to the steel wall he is sort of leaning against. He turns his head to look for Methos.

[Duncan] Adam?

Duncan calls out when he sees Methos is in the same position he is. He quickly glances back at the girl and notices that she is completely naked and quickly looks back in Methos direction.

Methos side glances at MacLeod when he hears him call.

[Methos] Welcome back.

[Duncan] Can you move yet?

Duncan asks Methos. He takes a deep breath as he tries to move his legs and gets a whiff of an terrible odor.

[Duncan] What is that smell?

Duncan says with a grimace.

[Methos] Yeah, but we're chained so it doesn't make a difference, does it?

Methos sniffs looking around.

[Methos] I have no idea.

[Glenda Sue] It's old blood.

Glenda Sue whispers.

Duncan recognizes the odor now that the girl has mentioned what it is.

[Duncan] Where are we? And who are you?

Duncan asks purposefully not looking at the naked girl.

[Glenda Sue] I'm Glenda Sue. And you are in Eli and Frank's shed.

Glenda Sue shrugs as she shivers from the cool air.

[Methos] So what are we doing here? What do they want us for?

Methos frowns looking at the girl.

[Glenda Sue] This is the shed where they dress their prey.

Glenda Sue explains.

Duncan looks at the chains on his wrists and how they are welded to the steel wall behind him.

[Methos] Damn, why do I have the feeling that doesn't sound very well?

[Duncan] What kind of prey needs to be chained to a steel wall?

Methos grumbles.

Duncan asks frowning.

[Methos] Men?

Methos answers looking at MacLeod.

Glenda Sue nods in confirmation.

[Glenda Sue] The best kind. Or so they claim.

Duncan examines his restraints trying to figure out if he can get out of them.

[Duncan] You seem to know a lot about what's going on. How long have you been here?

Duncan asks without looking at the girl.

[Glenda Sue] Depends. I've been in here about a month. I was with Frank for about six before that. I didn't realize at first...

Glenda Sue trails off.

[Duncan] You've been chained up in this shed for a month?

Duncan asks incredulously.

Methos realizes the reason why he suspected those guys. They reminded him of Caspian. He mentally smacks himself, of course he had to figure it out when it was too late to do anything.

Glenda Sue nods.

[Glenda Sue] They're not sure what to do with me.

[Duncan] What do you mean?

Duncan asks and finally looks over at the girl. Even though the shed is lit only by the moonlight filtering in through the slats of the walls, he is able to see the bruises in different stages of healing on her body and realizes that the girl has been tortured in some way.

[Glenda Sue] I tried to get away, once... I realized. Eli didn't take that kindly.

[Duncan] Realized what?

Duncan asks as he pulls himself up into a better sitting position.

[Glenda Sue] What they do to their game.

[Methos] What? They kill it? Isn't that why it's called game?

Methos shakes his head.

[Glenda Sue] Yes. But... they dress their game here.

Glenda Sue says.

[Duncan] And their game is men? They hunt men?

Duncan asks glancing nervously at Methos.

[Duncan] Maybe you should tell us just what you know.

[Glenda Sue] Yeah. And you're next.

Glenda Sue says bluntly.

Duncan adds looking back at the girl.

[Glenda Sue] Not much to tell.

Glenda Sue says with a shrug.

[Methos] Not a very original thought, is it? To hunt men.

Duncan sighs out of frustration. Getting information out of this girl is like pulling teeth without anesthetic.

Glenda Sue shakes her head.

Methos sighs wishing he'd never left Seacouver.

[Glenda Sue] No. I remember several stories from school where someone went out to hunt the 'ultimate prey'. Men.

[Duncan] Maybe you could elaborate?

Duncan says as he struggles against his chains.

[Glenda Sue] Elaborate how?

Glenda Sue asks.

[Glenda Sue] It's not like there is much to tell. When they're ready, they'll take out into the woods let you go, give you a brief head start and then hunt you, and kill you.

[Duncan] Wonderful.

Duncan grumbles.

[Duncan] How many times have they done this?

[Glenda Sue] I don't know. Depends on how often they find people who are either hitchhiking or whose car's got brought down. As often as they can though.

Glenda Sue shrugs, and shivers again. Harder this time, goosebumps rising on her skin, from the chill.

[Methos] Oh, really nice guys.

Duncan gives up struggling against his restraints realizing it's futile. He sighs and closes his eyes.

Methos grumbles unhappily.

[Duncan] Has anyone ever gotten away?

Duncan asks not really sure he wants to know the answer.

[Glenda Sue] No.

Glenda Sue says, knowing she is likely crushing the hope these two men have.

[Methos] Just exactly how do they kill them? And what do they do to the bodies?

Methos asks side glancing at MacLeod.

Duncan looks back at Methos figuring they are thinking the same thing.

[Glenda Sue] They shoot them. Then bring the bodies back here... and well...

Glenda Sue trails off, and hugs her knees. Shivering again, this time not from the cold.

[Glenda Sue] Like a prize deer. The heads get mounted and the rest of the body...

Glenda Sue swallows hard.

[Glenda Sue] I'm not sure.

Duncan snaps his head around and looks at her with his eyes wide.

[Duncan] They what?

[Methos] Oh, great.

Methos grumbles.

[Glenda Sue] They mount and display the heads. Just like most people would do with a prize deer.

Glenda Sue says guessing what Duncan was after. And not daring to think the other way.

Duncan lets out an audible sigh. So much for the idea that their Immortality would possibly be a way out of this.

[Glenda Sue] I'm sorry.

Glenda Sue apologizes

[Methos] This gets better and better. I can't believe this!

[Glenda Sue] I'd help you if I could but... There's not really anything I can do.

Methos complains while he shakes his head.

[Duncan] How did you get hooked up with these psychos?

[Glenda Sue] I ran away from home. Frank was nice to me.

Glenda Sue says shortly.

Eli is sitting at the kitchen table cleaning his rifle.  He stops gets up and walks to the other side of the table.  Laying on top of it are the two swords he and Frank had found in the lining of the two hitchhikers' coats.  He picks up one of them and tests the sharpness of the blade.  Seeing how sharp it is he lets out a whistle.

[Eli] You mind telling me why two men....obviously from the big city....are carrying swords under their coats?

Frank sits in front of the fire place sharpening his hunting knife. He  looks up at Eli and shrugs.

[Frank] Beats the hell out of me.  Pretty weird I think.

[Eli] And not just any swords.  These things are so sharp they could slice right through a bear's skull like it was butter.

[Frank] Well...they're ours now....right?

Frank says and spits on his sharpening stone.

[Eli] Yep.  That they are.

Eli returns to his chair and goes back to cleaning his rifle.

[Frank] So what have you decided about Glenda Sue?

[Eli] I was just thinking about that.

Eli says without looking up from his work.

[Eli] I think she will be an asset to us with these two boys.

[Frank] How so?

[Eli] Well....I figure we'll add her to the hunt this time. I'm sure by now she has spilled her guts about what she knows and what's been done to her since we put her in the shed.   So they'll probably want to take care of her and try and save her. She'll slow them down considerably making our work easier. Besides....we ain't got but one female on our wall.

Eli spits some of the chewing tobacco he has in his mouth onto the floor.

[Frank] So when're we gonna let 'em go?

Frank says his disappointment obvious in his voice.

Eli shrugs and spits again.

[Eli] I'm thinking sunrise.

Eli puts down his gun cleaning tools and starts putting his rifle back together.

Frank looks at the clock on the wall. There's only a few hours left before sunrise. He gets to his feet and puts his knife in the sheath on his belt.

Eli looks up seeing Frank get up.

[Eli] Where're you goin'?

Frank heads for the door of the cabin.

Eli suddenly realizes where the younger man is going and why and chuckles, shaking his head.

[Eli] Never mind. Go on. Get your rocks off one last time, junior.

Frank says nothing as he walks out of the cabin and heads for the shed. He goes inside, checks the chains on the two men then proceeds to **** Glenda Sue one last time.

Duncan tries to get close enough to kick Frank....to stop him from what he is doing but is unsuccessful.

[Methos] Save your strength, there's nothing we can do now.

Methos whispers to MacLeod.

When Frank's finished he gets up and goes back to the cabin. He goes into the kitchen and makes himself a sandwich which he takes back to the fireplace to eat.

[Duncan] Glenda Sue? Are you alright?

Duncan asks in a soft, soothing voice once Frank is gone.

[Glenda Sue] At least it wasn't Eli.

Glenda Sue says trying to stifle sobs as she rolled to her side, curling up.

Duncan 's rage gets control of him and he struggles against his restraints until his wrists begin to bleed.

[Duncan] Arrrgh!

Duncan growls as he tires disparately to free himself.

[Methos] Damn it, Duncan. What do you think you're doing? Do you think that's going to accomplish something?

Methos grumbles to MacLeod.

Glenda Sue eyes widened slightly with fear at Duncan's display of rage.

Duncan finally stops fighting against the chains. As he slumps back against the steel wall he growls through clenched teeth, "I'm going to kill him."

[Methos] Well yes, it's that or be killed, remember?

Methos looks up trying to see the restraints.

[Methos] There's no way out of this, we have to wait for them to free us.

[Eli] You say goodbye to your woman?

Eli says teasingly and chuckles.

Frank simply snorts at Eli and continues eating his sandwich in front of the fire.

[Eli] Don't worry, junior. You'll get over it. I'll lay odds that within a week you've forgotten all about the ****. Just remember.....broads are a dime a dozen. You can always get another one. And maybe the next one will actually be useful.

[Frank] **** you, Eli. Just....**** you.

Frank says as he tosses the last bit of his sandwich into the fire, gets up and storms into his bedroom and slams the door shut.

Eli chuckles at the younger man's outburst and shakes his head. He puts up the one rifle he has finished putting back together and starts working on another one.

Duncan looks over at Glenda Sue and wishes there were something he could say to help but he knows there isn't. He closes his eyes and bangs the back of his head against the steel wall one time then forces himself to relax. He has helped a couple of women that had been sexually abused....had listened to their graphic accounts of the incidences...but had never been forced to witness such an atrocity...unable to do anything about it. It almost feels as though he had been violated, too, and the feeling disgusts him....makes him feel sick inside.

Methos side glanced at MacLeod feeling he was upset about the ****, well so was he, he thought he had seen the last of it the day he'd left the Horsemen, but he was wrong. He tried to stay calm, if he wanted to keep his head, he couldn't let anger take him like it did MacLeod.

Glenda Sue sniffs and curls tighter. Where all men like this? First her step father and her mother hadn't believed her and had called her a liar. So she ran away, and then met Frank and Eli. And at first with Frank, life had seemed so much better. And then as she realized what Frank and Eli were actually doing, and she'd been sickened. WAS still sickened at the thought of it. Wanted to get away, and she should have known she didn't stand a chance against Frank and Eli. Glenda Sue sniffs again. She can't even remember how many times the two of them had **** her since. And now these two men. She sniffs again. What is left but to assume that they're the same?

Duncan opens his eyes and turns his head to look at Glenda Sue. His heart goes out to the girl.

[Duncan] Glenda? I know it may not be much help right now.....but I promise you....we will make them pay for what they have done to you.

Duncan says in a soft, soothing voice.

[Methos] Hmmm, maybe we'll try the Amazon way, these guys certainly deserve it.

Methos smiles threateningly.

[Glenda Sue] Are you even any different from them? Is any man?

Glenda Sue whispers.

[Duncan] Yes, Glenda. We are different. Not all men are like those two.

Duncan answers reassuringly.

[Methos] Not all of us behave like animals.

Methos grumbles, trying not think about his past.

[Glenda Sue] Not in my experience.

Glenda Sue murmurs more to herself then to anyone else.

[Glenda Sue] First my step father. Then Eli and Frank...

[Methos] Your stepfather? That's why you ran away, huh?

Methos sighs shaking his head.

[Duncan] I know it's hard....but believe me, Glenda.....there are some of us out there that respect women.....and would never treat them the way you've been treated.

Duncan glances over at Methos....hoping the older Immortal will be able to say something helpful because he is at a loss right now.

[Glenda Sue] Momma didn't believe me. Called me a liar. Beat me. Ran away to get away from it. Landed in worse.

Glenda Sue says, still almost more to herself than in response to the others.

[Methos] Well, runaways usually do. You should have gone straight to the police.

Methos shakes his head again, the kid wasn't very smart.

[Glenda Sue] What good, would going to the police do? My stepfather was the county sheriff No city cops. My hometown was to small.

Glenda Sue says with a little bit of heat as she looked up. Then she lay her head back down.

[Glenda Sue] Guess he was right. I must deserve it.

[Methos] Oh damn. Sorry I had no idea.

Methos takes a deep breath, he didn't really want to know, he was trying to stay cool and collected in here.

[Duncan] No, Glenda. You didn't deserve it. No woman deserves to be abused.

Duncan says trying to be reassuring.

Methos sighs, that girl owed nothing to luck.

Glenda Sue shrugs helplessly from her fetal position on the ground, saying nothing.

Duncan looks sadly at the girl then says softly, "maybe we should try and get some rest before they come and get us. It may be the last real rest we will get for awhile."

[Methos] Well, I don't know about you but I've been resting since we got here. Nothing else to do here.

Methos managed to give him a small smile.

Glenda Sue just shrugs again.

Duncan lays his head back against the steel wall and closes his eyes. To try and relax himself he focuses on the date he was supposed to have had.....would probably still be having....if Methos wouldn't have taken his so called short cut.

***Sunrise***

Eli pours himself another cup of coffee and looks out the kitchen window. Seeing that the sky in the eastern horizon is beginning to turn from black to purple he sets his cup on the sink and goes to Frank's bedroom door and pounds on it.

[Eli] Up and at 'em, junior.

Eli shouts. When he doesn't get a response he opens the door and walks into the room. He switches on the light...walks up to the foot of Frank's bed and yanks the covers off of him.

[Eli] I SAID GET YOUR ASS OUT OF BED!!!!

Eli yells almost at the top of his lungs.

Frank nearly jumps out of his skin as he is startled out of his sleep by Eli's bellowing. He sits up and rubs his eyes.

[Frank] Alright...alright. I'm up. Damn, Eli. You don't have to wake the whole mountain up.

Frank grumbles.

[Eli] Get dressed. It'll be dawn in about an hour.

Eli says and turns and walks out of the room. He goes back into the kitchen and pours the rest of the coffee in the coffee pot into a thermos.

Frank gets up and slowly gets dressed. He hated mornings. If he had his way he would sleep until noon everyday. But Eli wouldn't hear of it. Especially on hunting days. He always wanted to get started at sunrise. Once he is dressed he goes out to the kitchen and sits down at the table to put boots on.

[Frank] You save me some coffee?

Frank asks as he laces up his military style combat boots.

Eli sets a cup on the table next to Frank hard enough that some of the black liquid splashes out of the cup onto the table.

[Eli] If you want anything to eat....fix it yourself. Not time for much though. Should have gotten up earlier.

Eli says and starts gathering up his rifles, ammunition and various other hunting gear.

[Frank] I'm not hungry.

Frank says and takes a big swig of his coffee which burns his mouth and throat.

[Frank] Ahhhhh....damn. This ****'s hot!

Frank exclaims holding his throat with one hand as though it will help.

Eli shakes his head as he opens the front door.

[Eli] Idiot.

Eli grumbles and carries his gear out to the truck.

Frank gathers his own gear and heads outside to put it in the truck with Eli's.

Eli walks over to the shed and unlocks the padlock on the shed door.

Duncan wakes up at the sound of the padlock on the shed door being unlocked and opens his eyes.

Methos wakes up at the sound of someone opening the door, he opens his eyes and looks at it.

Glenda Sue instantly awakens, and sits up turning towards the door, fearfully watching to see who it is.

Eli opens the shed door and walks inside. Without a word he walks up to the one who said he was a doctor and slugs him so hard it knocks him out. He then does the same to the other guy and then to Glenda.

Frank walks into the shed with three rolled up tarps. He unrolls one next to the guy who said he was a doctor and unlocks the chains around his wrists then rolls him onto the tarp.

Eli follows suit with the other guy and rolls him up in the tarp so he is completely covered.

Frank finishes rolling his guy up in the tarp and unrolls the last tarp next to Glenda Sue. He does her as they had done with the two men.

Eli walks over and grabs the end of the tarp Glenda is rolled up in.

Frank picks up the other end of the tarp and helps Eli carry it out to the truck.

Eli helps Frank put the girl in the back of the truck then returns to the shed to do the same with the two men.

Frank shuts the tail gate on the truck bed and gets into the truck.

Eli gets into the truck and starts the engine then takes off down the road.

Frank sits in silence and looks out the passenger window at the sky....watching it turn from dark purple to orange to yellow to blue.

Methos moans softly coming back to his senses, he feels they're moving him somewhere but he's too wrapped up to do anything, besides he doesn't now about MacLeod. He decides to stay still for now and pretend to still be out.

Eli drives for several miles then turns onto a fire road which he follows for a few miles. When he gets to a clearing he brings the truck to a stop. On one side of the road is thick mountain forest and on the other is a steep drop off that drops down into a canyon of mixed terrain.

Frank gets out of the truck when it stops and silently walks around to the back and opens the tail gate. He pulls the first rolled up body part way out of the truck bed and waits for Eli to help.

Eli gets out and walks around to the back of the truck and helps Frank unload their first victim. He helps Frank carry the tarp over to the edge of the drop off and sets it on the ground.

Frank gives the rolled up tarp a shove with his foot sending it rolling down the embankment to the canyon floor below.

Duncan comes to as his body bounces down the rocky slope....coming to a sudden stop. The tarp he has been rolled up in is no longer covering him and he moans as he lays there...taking inventory of his injuries.

Eli returns to the truck and follows suit with the next tarpped victim.

Frank , as before, shoves the tarp with his foot sending it rolling down the embankment.

Methos fights the urge to do something and tries to stay still. He bites his lower lip to prevent from screaming as he rolled down the rocky slope. He can't help to moan as he stops at the bottom of it.

Eli returns to the truck for their last victim.

Frank helps Eli carry Glenda Sue to the edge of the embankment and shoves her tarpped body down the embankment.

Methos feels his injuries heal and opens a slit of his eyes, guessing the guys wouldn't be near them.

Eli sets the timer on his watch and walks back to the truck. He takes the thermos out of the truck cab and carries it over to the shade of a large pine tree and sits on the ground, leaning against the tree trunk. He opens the thermos and pours himself a cup of coffee.

Frank returns to the truck and lifts one of the tarps inn the bed of the truck up and removes an ceramic jug from under it which he carries over to the same tree Eli is sitting under. He sits on the ground...opens the jug and takes a long swig of the moonshine in the jug.

Duncan manages to come to a sitting position and looks around.

[Duncan] Adam?

Duncan calls out to Methos and then sees Glenda Sue's naked body lying a few feet away. He gets up and limps over to her and kneels next to her. He removes his coat and then removes his shirt which he covers Glenda with. Then he gently slaps her cheeks to wake her up.

Methos sits down and looks around, realizing the hunt had just begun.

[Duncan] Glenda? Wake up, sweetheart. Come on. Wake up, Glenda.

Duncan says softly.

[Eli] I still would like to know why those boys were carrying swords.

Eli says as he sips his coffee.

[Frank] Yeah. That's definitely a first.

Frank says as he takes another swig of the moonshine.

[Methos] Come on, MacLeod. Let's go! We have no time for this!

Methos moves to MacLeod's side to help him carry her.

Glenda Sue moans as she comes awake. Seeing a figure over her is enough for her to whimper fearfully and try to scoot away.

[Duncan] It's Ok, Glenda. It's me. They've set us free. We need to get going. Can you walk?

Duncan says holding out his hand to her.

Methos sighs looking around, that's what they really need right now, an injured girl to look after.

Glenda Sue ignores Duncan's hand and darts her eyes around the canyon and whimpers again, this time in terror, rather than fear. "The hunt's begun."

[Methos] Yeah, we have to get going!

Methos grumbles at them.

Duncan knows not to try and force her to take his hand after what she has been through. He gets to his feet and puts his coat back on. From a few steps away he holds out his hand to her again.

[Duncan] Can you walk, Glenda? Do you need us to help you?

Duncan asks in a soft voice.

[Glenda Sue] No!

Glenda Sue cries in a soft voice, scrambling painfully to her feet.

Duncan looks up at the sky. Using the position of the sun as a compass he looks around the canyon. He notices that at the very bottom of the canyon the foliage is much greener than where they are standing.

[Duncan] There's a stream...or creek down there.

Duncan says pointing.

[Methos] Yeah, we should go that way, maybe we can cover our track.

Methos nods.

Duncan looks at Methos.

[Duncan] As many times that they have done this they'll already know that's where we'll head so covering our tracks won't make a difference.

Glenda Sue eyes the two men. She isn't sure if she can even trust them. But for now, anything is better than dying.

[Methos] Well, can't hurt to try it, weren't you planning to go that way, anyway?

Methos shrugs looking at MacLeod.

[Duncan] We can make them believe we are.....for a while anyway.

Duncan says and picks up a long sturdy branch from the ground and hands it to Glenda to use as a crutch...cane....whatever.

[Duncan] Then I think we should double back and try and find your car.

[Methos] Let's try to get out of here first. We're sitting ducks here. What are we waiting for? The first shoot?

Methos sighs exasperated.

Glenda Sue hesitantly accepts the branch from the man. "Thank you," she whispers.

Duncan starts walking at a brisk pace down the embankment.

[Duncan] I hope you're not going to complain every bit of the way.

Duncan says as he passes in front of Methos and he shoots him a warning glance.

Methos quickly follows him, he can't wait to get some cover at least.

Glenda Sue forcefully swallows the pain from her various injuries and starts after the men, moving as fast as she can.

[Methos] Would I have any reason to complain? I'm having a great time!

Stay tuned for the next exciting episode.
